As Mackney prepares for the upcoming Thanksgiving season, the local food drive based at Corner Gas continues to expand its efforts in response to heightened community needs. Following our previous report on September 19, the food drive has secured additional partnerships and community support, enabling them to prepare for a more ambitious Thanksgiving event than ever before.
The drive has recently teamed up with Reed's Real Estate, which has pledged to donate a percentage of its October sales to the food drive. "We believe in giving back to our community, especially as the demands for food security increase," said Sarah Reed, owner of Reed's Real Estate. "Every little bit helps, and we hope this partnership will inspire others to contribute as well."
In addition to new business collaborations, local residents are also stepping up their efforts. Volunteers have been organizing donation drives on Fourth Lane and surrounding neighborhoods, collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries for those in need. Ben Hughes, a local lecturer and volunteer at the food drive, expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, "It's incredible to see our community come together. We are all goal-oriented when it comes to ensuring that no one in Mackney goes hungry this Thanksgiving."
The food drive organizers are also planning to host a Thanksgiving-themed event at Corner Gas, featuring activities for families and a community meal. "We want to create a space where people can come together, celebrate the season, and support one another," explained Lisa Martinez, the event coordinator.
As the food drive gears up for its Thanksgiving efforts, they remain focused on addressing the ongoing needs of Mackney's residents. With each new partnership and community initiative, the drive's impact is sure to resonate throughout the town. The food drive is set to run until Thanksgiving Day, and organizers encourage all residents to contribute in whatever way they can.
For those interested in making a donation or volunteering, more information can be found at Corner Gas or through their social media channels. Together, Mackney is proving that community spirit can truly make a difference during tough times.
